Description

Delightful soft gingerbread cookies filled with the warm scents of molasses and spices, perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, spices, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Scoop in dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  7. Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes, or scoop for drop cookies.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until set but still soft in the center.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
