Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5-6 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup flour (for the topping)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (for the topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt for the crust; cut in butter until crumbly.
  3. Stir in water to form a dough, chill for 15 minutes.
  4. Roll out dough and cut into rounds to fit into a muffin tin.
  5. In another bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and brown sugar; fill each crust with the apple mixture.
  6. For the crumble topping, mix oats, flour, nuts (if using), and melted butter; sprinkle over the apple filling.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or drizzled in caramel sauce. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
