Description

A delightful dessert featuring a crunchy chocolate crust, a creamy chocolate filling, and a fluffy whipped topping, perfect for any chocolate lover.

Ingredients

  • 24 chocolate wafer cookies or Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 8 oz semisweet or milk chocolate, chopped
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream (for topping)
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • Shaved chocolate or cocoa powder (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix crushed cookies with melted butter and sugar until evenly moistened.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes and let cool completely.
  5. Warm 1 1/2 cups of cream in a saucepan until just simmering.
  6. Pour the cream over the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl and whisk until smooth.
  7. In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks with 1/2 cup of sugar until pale.
  8. Slowly add a little of the warm chocolate mixture to the egg yolks to temper them, then return everything to the saucepan.
  9. Cook over low heat, whisking constantly, until the custard thickens (about 5–6 minutes).
  10. Remove from heat and whisk in 2 tablespoons of butter and vanilla.
  11. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve for a smooth texture.
  12. Pour the filling into the cooled crust, smooth the top, and refrigerate until fully set (at least 4 hours, preferably overnight).
  13. Beat 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  14. Spread the whipped cream over the chilled pie and garnish with shaved chocolate or cocoa powder if desired.
  15. Slice and serve the pie chilled.

Notes

Ensure the chocolate is finely chopped and whisk constantly while cooking the custard to avoid scrambling the eggs.
