Description

Rich, fudgy chocolate brownies topped with a peppermint ganache and crushed candy canes, perfect for holiday parties.


Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 oz bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz semisweet chocolate (for ganache)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract (for ganache)
  • 1/3 cup crushed candy canes


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and bittersweet chocolate until smooth.
  3. Whisk in the granulated sugar and eggs until glossy.
  4. Fold in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla until just combined.
  5. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  6. Cool completely, then prepare the ganache by melting semisweet chocolate with heavy cream and peppermint extract.
  7. Spread the ganache over the cooled brownies and sprinkle with crushed candy canes.

Notes

For best results, let the brownies cool completely before adding the ganache to ensure a glossy finish.
