Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons peppermint extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Red food dye
Instructions
- Cream together butter and sugars until fluffy.
- Blend in egg and peppermint extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Split the dough in half and color one half with red food dye.
- Form small balls of each dough and twist them together to create swirls.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) until edges are golden, about 10-12 minutes.
Notes
Chill dough if it’s too soft to handle, and use a cookie scoop for uniform sizes.
