Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- Powdered sugar for coating
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, spices, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Mix in the molasses and egg until well combined.
- Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
- After chilling, roll the dough into balls and coat each ball in powdered sugar.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
Chilling the dough is essential for achieving the perfect crinkle. Rotate the baking sheets halfway through to ensure even baking.
