Description

Pizza stuffed waffles are a fun twist on two beloved favorites: pizza and waffles! Filled with gooey cheese and savory pepperoni, they’re perfect for a quick meal or snack.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 50 grams sliced pepperoni

Instructions

  1. In a big bowl, toss in the salt, baking powder, and flour. Whisk to mix.
  2. Crack the egg into another bowl. Pour in sugar, vanilla, oil, and milk. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the mixed dry ingredients to the wet bowl. Stir gently until no dry flour remains, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Spray the waffle maker with nonstick spray and preheat.
  5. Scoop batter onto the hot waffle iron and spread it out. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes until golden.
  6. Let the waffles cool slightly, then cut each one sideways to create two halves.
  7. Spread pizza sauce on the bottom half, top with mozzarella and pepperoni, then broil briefly until the cheese bubbles.
  8. Top with the other half and serve immediately while hot and melty.

Notes

For added flavor, mix in Italian herbs like oregano or basil. Use any pizza toppings you like such as bell peppers, olives, or cooked sausage.
