  • 4 ripe Bosc or Anjou pears
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice


Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the pears, keeping them whole.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Gently add the pears to the simmering liquid, ensuring they are submerged.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes until fork-tender but firm.
  5. Remove from heat and cool the pears slightly in their syrup before serving warm or chilled.
