Description
Juicy, tender meatballs smothered in a rich gravy, bringing nostalgia to your dinner table.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, milk, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and sear until browned on all sides.
- Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add beef broth to deglaze, scraping up the brown bits.
- Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the broth for about 15 minutes or until cooked through.
- If gravy is too thin, mix cornstarch with a bit of water and stir into the skillet to thicken.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles and garnish with parsley.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free breadcrumbs. For a dairy-free option, substitute with plant-based milk and butter.
