Description

Tender meatballs blended with caramelized onions and gooey cheese for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef (Opt for fresh, high-quality meat for better flavor.)
  • 1 lb Ground Pork (Adds moisture and flavor to meatballs.)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs (Soaked in milk for tenderness.)
  • 2 large Onions (Caramelized for the sauce; essential for flavor.)
  • 1 cup Cheese (Gruyere or Swiss, shredded for topping; melty goodness!)
  • Salt & Pepper (To taste; basic seasoning to enhance flavors.)

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef and pork in a bowl.
  2. Soak breadcrumbs in milk until soft, then mix into the meat.
  3. Form mixture into meatballs, wetting hands to prevent sticking.
  4. Chill meatballs in the fridge for 10 minutes.
  5. Caramelize onions in a skillet with butter and olive oil on medium-low heat for about 20 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven and bake meatballs until cooked through.
  7. Serve meatballs topped with caramelized onions and shredded cheese.
  8. Let rest a few minutes before serving for gooey cheese.

Notes

For softer meatballs, avoid overmixing and use high-quality meat. Fresh breadcrumbs are ideal, but canned will work in a pinch.
