Description
Crispy parcels filled with spiced minced meat and a hint of sweetness, inspired by South African flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 500g ground beef or lamb
- 1 tsp curry powder
- 1 tsp turmeric
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 sheets filo pastry
- 100g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten (optional)
- Seasonal veggies (peas or carrots), optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Sauté onions and garlic in a pan until translucent.
- Add ground meat and spices; cook until browned.
- If using, mix in beaten egg and seasonal veggies and stir well.
- Take a sheet of filo pastry, place a spoonful of filling in the center, and fold into a parcel.
- Brush the top with melted butter.
- Repeat until all filling is used.
- Place parcels on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Serve with mango chutney and a fresh salad for a complete meal. These parcels can be frozen for later use.
