Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Brioche or ciabatta buns for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Push onions to the side of the skillet and add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Combine caramelized onions and beef, then add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes to meld flavors.
- Serve the filling on warmed buns, topped with grated cheese if desired.
