Description

Delightful and healthy twist on traditional fish recipes, these savory salmon balls are bursting with flavor and served with a creamy avocado sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh salmon, chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (dill, parsley, etc.)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for drizzling)
  • 1 avocado (for the sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (for the sauce)
  • Salt (for the sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking.
  2. In a bowl, combine chopped salmon, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mash the ingredients together using your hands until well mixed.
  4. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  5. Shape the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Drizzle olive oil over the salmon balls.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown, or pan-fry in a skillet until a golden crust forms.
  8. For the avocado sauce, mash the avocado with lime juice and salt until smooth.
  9. Serve salmon balls with the creamy avocado sauce on the side.

Notes

Chilling the mixture helps the balls hold their shape during cooking. For a gluten-free option, substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free alternatives.
