Description

A unique twist on a classic comfort dish featuring layers of sweet potatoes in a creamy, cheesy sauce, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, washed and peeled
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice sweet potatoes into uniform rounds about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. In a baking dish, layer sweet potato slices, pouring a mix of cream and cheese over each layer.
  4. Repeat until all sweet potatoes and sauce are used.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let the dish sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use a mandoline for even slicing and consider adding sautéed onions or garlic for added flavor.
