Description

A hearty and comforting Slow Cooker Sauerbraten Beef, steeped in traditional flavors and perfectly tender.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs beef round or chuck roast
  • 1 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon bay leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef round in a mixture of red wine vinegar, water, sliced onion, and spices for at least 3 days.
  2. After marination, preheat a skillet and sear the beef on all sides until browned.
  3. Transfer the beef to the slow cooker and add the marinade along with chopped carrots, minced garlic, and sugar.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For optimal flavor, marinate for up to a week. Use high-quality red wine vinegar for the best results.
