Ingredients
- 4 ripe Bosc or Anjou pears
 - 2 cups water
 - 1 cup granulated sugar
 - 2 cinnamon sticks
 - 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
 - 2 tbsp lemon juice
 
Instructions
- Wash and peel the pears, keeping them whole.
 - In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
 - Gently add the pears to the simmering liquid, ensuring they are submerged.
 - Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes until the pears are fork-tender but still firm.
 - Remove from heat and let the pears cool slightly in their syrup before serving, either warm or chilled.
 
Notes
Choose ripe but firm pears for best results. You can customize the flavors with different spices or sweeteners.
