Description

A classic apple pie with a buttery, flaky crust filled with spiced apples, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
  • 6 to 8 apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn), peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust by mixing flour, butter, and sugar; add ice water gradually until combined.
  2. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough and fit it into a pie dish.
  4. In a bowl, mix sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice for the filling.
  5. Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture.
  6. Cover with a top crust, crimp the edges, and cut slits for steam.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 45 minutes.
  8. Let it cool for a bit before serving.

Notes

For a flaky crust, ensure ingredients are cold and don’t overwork the dough.
