Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs, orange zest, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the mixture and mix until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Use festive cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden at the edges.
- Let them cool before dusting with powdered sugar.
Notes
For the best results, ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature. Chill the dough adequately to prevent spreading during baking.
