Instructions

- In a clean, dry mixing bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold in vanilla extract and cornstarch, if using, along with any food coloring.
- Pipe the meringue onto a lined baking sheet in desired shapes.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the meringues are crisp and dry, about 1 hour.
- Allow the meringues to cool completely in the oven to prevent cracking.
