Description

These Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps are a quick and healthy alternative to traditional tacos, featuring seasoned turkey in crisp lettuce leaves.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 small diced onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • Butter or romaine lettuce leaves for wrapping
  • Optional toppings: avocado, shredded cheddar, pico de gallo, sour cream

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and brown until no longer pink, aiming for 165°F internal temperature.
  2. Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper, toasting the spices for 30 seconds.
  4. Add tomato sauce and water; simmer uncovered for 4–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Finish with lime juice and chopped cilantro and mix well.
  6. Spoon turkey mixture into chilled lettuce leaves and top with desired toppings.

Notes

Adjust seasoning to taste and serve the toppings separately for guests to customize their wraps.
