These Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps are a quick and healthy alternative to traditional tacos, featuring seasoned turkey in crisp lettuce leaves.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 small diced onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- A pinch of black pepper
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
- Butter or romaine lettuce leaves for wrapping
- Optional toppings: avocado, shredded cheddar, pico de gallo, sour cream
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and brown until no longer pink, aiming for 165°F internal temperature.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper, toasting the spices for 30 seconds.
- Add tomato sauce and water; simmer uncovered for 4–5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Finish with lime juice and chopped cilantro and mix well.
- Spoon turkey mixture into chilled lettuce leaves and top with desired toppings.
Notes
Adjust seasoning to taste and serve the toppings separately for guests to customize their wraps.
