Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and granulated sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients gently; fold in the chopped apples.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture, then add the remaining batter.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use tart apples for the best flavor balance. Consider adding nuts or a glaze for extra sweetness.
